tis' the season for decor!

so after we finished putting up our christmas tree and all the decorations, we still had one empty wall left... after continuous brainstorming, and a little pinterest, we created this!

here's the how to!

supplies:
-toilet paper tubes
-ruler
-scissors
-pen
-hot glue gun
-extra glue
-bunches of paper clips

1. collect collect collect! gather as many toilet paper tubes as possible, and store them in a safe place away from pets and the trash. i used 27 total. treat them like gold!

2. clean and cut. remove any extra shreds of toilet paper that are still glued on. then flatten the tube and using your ruler measure every 1/2inch and mark. i recommend marking high and low for easy cutting. and now cut!

3. get creative! now is when you get all fancy. start placing your petals all around in the shape you want and secure with paper clips so you can see your end picture before its final. i suggest starting out with a few 4 or 5 petal flowers and adding on to those.

4. color time! and we paint! (optional: brown also looks great on a colored wall) choose a color, and spray paint away. (in the proper environment, of course!)

5. enjoy! once your paint dries, hang your masterpiece and bask in its glory!

don't worry, you can't mess up!

Tangy sweetness!

a couple of weeks ago my sister and i we're in the mood for some apple treaties. so after a quick look on pinterest we came across an idea here, so caramel apples it is!  they were sweet yet sour, sticky, tangy and delectable! here is our easy version.

enjoy this snazzy snack!

supplies:

6 green apples
6 popsicle stick
1 bag of soft caramel candies (14 oz.)
2 1/2 tbsp of milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
unsalted butter
plate or cookie sheet
parchment paper

first things first!
- wash your apples thoroughly removing any waxy-ness
- using a knife insert a small starter hole for your popsicle stick
- insert popsicle stick
- and place in fridge for at least 2 hours (this helps the caramel to set quicker)

while your apples are chilling, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and grease it with unsalted butter

for the caramel, we did a little double steamer action using a pot and metal bowl. fill your pot with water about half way, place your bowl on top and bring it to a boil (p.s. you don't want your water touching your bowl).

now is a good time to pull out your apples.

once your boiling add caramel candies, milk, and vanilla. DON'T FORGET YOUR OVEN-MITT. holding your bowl mix your ingredients together and stir until your caramel is thickish but dip-able.

dip your apples one at a time, don't forget the tops! allow the excess to drizzle off and place on your cookie sheet. place them in fridge until the caramel sets.
optional: dip in chocolate or chopped nuts for extra yumminess

and........

enjoy!

have fun!
